Our lab's research is focused on understanding risk for and recovery from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring conditions, particularly among survivors of physical and sexual assault. We are currently developing and evaluating accessible, culturally-informed interventions for PTSD during pregnancy, as a means of enhancing women’s and infants’ health. Our lab also has focused on investigating the intersection of PTSD and alcohol use disorder, both in human laboratory and clinical settings. Future directions include understanding how experiences of race-based trauma and discrimination contribute to risk for and consequences of PTSD in marginalized communities.
