Ashley Bledsoe is a first-year Ph.D. student studying the Community and Prevention Research Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has recently graduated from North Central College with her BA in Psychology. At NCC, while working for Leadership Ethics and Values (LEV) /Social Impact Department, Ashley developed her love of social-emotional learning (SEL) as she worked closely with K-12 teachers in certificate programs where she aided in qualitative research and studied authors that focused on teacher burnout, SEL, classroom environments, and mindfulness. Ashley also enjoys being hands-on with students to observe and enhance their learning experience using mentorship, tutoring, and effective interventions. In addition, Ashley has presented research at MPA in Chicago, and APLS in Denver, Colorado. She is passionate about the individualistic learning process of minority students and applying psychological educational theories to their learning experiences. Her research interests include but aren’t limited to SEL work, student-teacher meaningful and effective engagement, and mindfulness/wellbeing.
