About

Dr. Passarotti uses a cognitive neuroscience approach and fMRI methods to examine the neurobiological mechanisms of cognitive and affective dysfunction in pediatric mental illness. She is working both with healthy and clinical developmental populations such as children with Bipolar disorder and ADHD. She is head of the Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at the Institute for Juvenile Research at UIC. Her current projects examine impulsivity, cognitive control and reward processes, as they relate to affect processing, executive functions, learning and substance abuse, in adolescents with Bipolar Disorder and adolescents with ADHD. She is also studying the potential of cognitive remediation as a tool to address some of the attention and working memory problems in bipolar disorder and ADHD
