About

Veronica Bucci (she/her) is a Clinical Psychology PhD student under the mentorship of Dr. Robin Mermelstein in the Institute for Health Research & Policy. Her research interests are focused on behavioral and affective mechanisms that underlie sustained and risky substance use and what kinds of support and interventions can mitigate these behaviors throughout the lifespan. She engages in studies that capture what components of cravings, psychological influences, and societal factors (1) facilitate risk behaviors, (2) how these attributes present themselves during adolescence and young adulthood, and (3) how interventions can be improved to better treat the biopsychosocial components of substance use disorders. Her current work focuses on affect regulation and motivations to use cannabis amongst young adults as a means of detecting escalation to hazardous use.
