About

Broadly, Dr. Adesogan’s research focuses on (1) examining how multidimensional stressors rooted in systemic racism (e.g., financial strain, structural inequity) impact the mental and physical health of Black Americans across the lifespan while (2) understanding how general and culturally specific forms of strength and support (e.g., family support, religiosity) promote positive outcomes in the face of such stressors. Recently, Dr. Adesogan's work has focused on integrating psychosocial and physiological data to understand and address health inequities earlier in development.

As noted above, Dr. Adesogan will be reviewing applications for a new Ph.D. student for Fall 2027. The lab is currently focused on topics related to mental and physical health inequities, minority and contextual stress and resilience, and sensitive periods of development. Students with strong research experiences and interest in these areas are likely to find the lab a good fit for them. The lab is highly collaborative, student affirming, and inclusive.
