About

Lauren Smith, PhD is a clinical child psychologist with areas of specialty in the treatment and diagnosis of trauma and stressor-related conditions in children and adults. She has received training to be certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), and child and family traumatic stress intervention (CFTSI), which are empirically supported treatments for trauma-related concerns in children and adolescents. Dr. Smith also brings expertise and background knowledge in the assessment and treatment of early psychosis in the context of trauma and stressor-related disorders. Dr. Smith’s research interests and background are in community participatory research methods to examine the impact of traumatic and culturally bound stressors, social detriments of health, and barriers to mental health care in communities of color.
