Getting Published Workshop: Book Projects

This workshop will provide information on how to get a manuscript accepted for book publication. Advice will be given on how to prepare a book proposal and how to find and select appropriate publishers for submission. A general overview of the publishing process for books will also be provided, with discussion on which topics are best suited for books. Tips will be given on how to increase one's chances for getting published. Special emphasis will be given on how to prepare and submit a book proposal. Attendees will be given insight on what publishers consider a good proposal as well as an understanding of the marketing and sales considerations that publishers consider when evaluating projects. The presenter will give a brief overview of her organization's selection process and provide general advice about publishing. This will be followed by a question and answer period. Attendees are expected to gain insight into how the world of publishing works and how they might better their chances of getting published. The presentation will be followed by individual meetings with faculty who have provided a one-page book project description.
